International manufacturer of chemicals has immediate need for Director of Global Logistics with a strong background designing an optimal ocean going freight network for international purposes to include Asia, Europe, and US-Must have experience with hazardous materials.

Client is a $3b manufacturer of chemicals and other materials used in a variety of industries.  They are looking for someone that has designed an optimal ocean going freight network.

Responsibilities:
The Global Logistics Director is a key Supply Chain leadership position which will drive all global logistics processes and the organization to maximize the benefits of globalization. This position will be responsible for: 

  • setting the strategy for all areas of Logistics, including ocean, rail and land, and develop the proper network strategy to maximize service levels while minimizing cost.
  • Additionally, this role will require the leadership skills necessary to harmonize processes across logistics operations in all areas of the world.
  • Develop and set strategy for a Global Logistics network.
  • Lead a team of individuals responsible for the analysis, improvement and implementation of all freight modes to ensure lowest cost, maximum efficiency, and to meet all customer needs globally.
  • Manage the global logistics budgeting process.
  • Manage all internal and external warehouse resources and develop and implement optimization plans.
  • Manage site resources to provide local service for shipping/receiving functions to various distribution points.
  • Manage trade compliance activities to meet all requirments globally.
  • Lead the development and implementation of appropriate metrics and business reporting processes.
  • Manage and complete all required Human Resources and Compliance process requirements.
  • Lead career development and performance development / improvement for direct reports
  • Must be able/willing to travel internationally approximately 35% of time.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 10+ years in leading a global transportation/logistics network.
  • 5+ years of direct leadership experience including leading global teams.
  • Prior experience managing a global logistics budget.
  • Experience in managing the transportation and storage of hazardous materials / dangerous goods and cold storage/short shelf life material.
  • Demonstrated experience managing import/export compliance.
  • Experience dealing with NAFTA and other free trade zone agreements.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate and develop talent.
  • Outstanding communication skills both verbal and written; Ability to effectively communicate at all levels in the organization from Senior Leadership to Shop Floor Operations.
  • Experience working in a global business utilizing the SAP ERP platform.
  • Experience with Warehouse Management Systems.
